Ellie Jane Goulding is a British woman born on December 30, 1986. Tracey Goulding Summers is her mother. Her father Arthur Goulding comes from a funeral home-based family. Goulding is the child of two and is a sister named Alex an older sister named Isabel as well as a sister named Jordan. Alex is her older brother and plays the bass in a Hereford group. In her early years, she was encouraged to pursue a career in the piano by her mother. As a young girl, she began studying clarinet. In her 14th year she began writing music. But, she did not really start pursuing songwriting in the college period. Goulding became interested in electronic music while she studied. Jamie Lillywhite was a scout who stumbled upon her during this time. He began as manager, and later changed to A.&R. at the university contest. Lillywhite later connected her to Starsmith who is a producer who was instrumental in her November 15th, 2009 publication of her album Under The Sheets. Starsmith collaborated with the singer on Lights. In spite of the fact that they released Under The Sheets under the independent Label Neon Gold Records, Polydor Records had already signed the contract.
